Lava Hot Springs

We went to the Johnson Family Reunion this month in Butte, Montana. We decided to take our time coming home and stopped to spend the night in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. We had a BLAST! The only bad thing about it was we only had one day there. We want to go back again next year and stay longer. Our campground was right by the river, so we decided to rent some tubes and go rafting. The "Locals" told us where to start as a beginner. That run was great for me but wasn't quite exciting enough for the guys so they decided to skip the intermediate start point and go right to the Expert. Go figure.......I think its a guy thing. I am at the top of the cliff taking the pictures (a nervous wreck). It was a really scary for a minute but they all came out of the waterfalls okay. Destrey did flip over backwards going down the waterfall and hit his head on a rock. I don't have any pictures of it. I was busy getting ready to dive off the cliff and save my baby, I thought for sure it was going to knock him out. I think they regret going right to the expert level now but of course they will never admitt it. I am just glad everyone is okay to include me, I am sure it wouldn't have been a pretty sight me doing a swan dive off the cliff. I probably would have only landed three feet in front of me and then rolled down the rest of the way. It all worked out in the end and we are here to share it with you.

Here they are walking down the cliff to the water.
I had the camera zoomed so it doesn't really show how far down it really was.

DJ did get flipped out of his tube on the way down but he didn't get hurt.

This is after Destrey went down the waterfall backwards. His tube is upside down because he flipped right out of it. He lost his flip flops and the poor kid was more worried about that than anything. (by the way, he did find them both)

Dallas was stuck in a whirlpool behind the trees he didn't see either one of the boys go down the waterfall. He had to get out of his tube and walk over to the falls. The boys were able to warn him to stay away from the one side. He made it through just fine.

As you can see, I had my share of excitement too.
Maybe it wasn't as extreme as what they went through or was it???

Just enjoying the ride!!!

At the very end of the run DJ got high centered on a rock.
He waited for me so I could take a picture of it.

There was a rope across that you would catch to stop you. They make it look really tough but if you will notice the kid standing in the water behind them.
Need I say more??

This Picture sums it all up.

We can't wait to go back next year!!!!
